Policies & Procedures

As a registered Day Nursery, we are regulated by OFSTED, who are the governing body. During our inspections, we must show how we meet all of the new Welfare Requirements, laid down in the EYFS. These are grouped into 5 outcomes, against which our setting was inspected. They are:-

  • Safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
  • Suitable people
  • Suitable premises, environment and equipment
  • Organisation
  • Documentation

The result is made according to how well the inspector feels we met the standards and especially, how the individual needs of each of the children in our care are catered for. We receive no advance warning of the inspection.

PoliciesIn our last inspection, carried out on 12th May 2008, the Florence Avenue nursery was graded as "Outstanding". This means that we were graded as "Outstanding" in each and all of the 5 outcomes listed above. You may download this report here.

PoliciesThe OFSTED website provides a lot of helpful information for parents in choosing a nursery and government directives for childcare. You can use this as a forum for making comments about good examples or best practices for childcare settings or even complaints.

Little Red Hen Day Nurseries Ltd has a written statement explaining how we will meet all of the legal requirements and those that we should have regard for; and parents are given a full copy of these on CD ROM when contracts are signed.

We have a set of Golden Rules too which are linked into our Behaviour Management Policy.
